  • I have to admit I haven’t tried any of your smoothies but they look so enjoyable to drink and I bet would make my liquid lunch something to look forward to

  • Ok that was a great video. For those of you who think sugar is too much just dont add sugar or do. It is your personal choice. For me this is a great video that you can enjoy everyday without guilt:)

  • 2:07 she calls it a milkshake. Hope they correct the video title too. Looks great for a chocolate milkshake. But this isn’t a smoothie

  • The first time i did it I found it way too sweet. The second I put banana yogurt instead of ice cream and didn’t add any sugar and it tasted much better.

  • Cheers!! Yum thanks for the recipe! Same size blender too lots of recipes online and on youtube only serve 1-2. This will serve easily 3+. Great for kids. Keep up the good work

  • How’s this a smoothie?? Smoothies have curd/yogurt blended with fresh fruits. This is milkshake & not a smoothie. Plz do not misguide.

  • i have been looking for some healthy drinks or smoothies to have and this is one I definitely want to try, couple questions though… Could you use regular peanut butter instead of a nut butter? Also how many bananas do you usually put in the blender?
Also thanks for the recipe, ill be trying it

  • Just made this! Used 1 frozen banana, 1 TBSP unsweetened cocoa powder, 1 cup unsweetened almond milk, 1/4 cup rolled oats, and some ice cubes. Delicious and filling! No sweetener necessary. Came out to 232 calories. Thanks for the recipe

  • I am pregnant, and i can’t eat anything, everything makes me nautious.. i tired your OAT smoothiE this morning with strawberry yogurt, banana, regular chocolate powder and milk. And i finished it! I didn’t know you can use oats like this, i mean without cooking or keeping them in milk over night. I am very happy, thanks.

  • It tastes like dessert because it may as well be it has enough sugar/carbs in the grains/bananas to raise your blood glucose considerably.

  • When I have made banana and chocolate milkshakes, I have also added some orange juice (preferrably red orange) which gives a freshness to the drink.

  • Thank you so much for this recipe! This is the first chocolate smoothie recipe I found that actually almost tastes like a chocolate milkshake. It is a lifesaver!!! I love it so much:)

  • 5/5 This is good, just made it and very yum! Go ahead and try it if you are considering it:) I even added chia seeds, hemp hearts and flaxseed and it didn’t taste bad as I feared! (not that there’s anything wrong with those ingredients, I’m just biased:) )

  • This is my favorite smoothie, i make it everyday. You could also try peanut butter in it to make it more creamy and more protein. Also, if the bananas are on the little bit more ripe side, you could try and skip the sweetner:)

  • Hey lovely! Quick fun question; if you were forced to be without a smoothie maker for a whole year, and finally you got your machine back, what would your first big craving to create with it, be??:)

  • Thanks for showing me this recipe! I also added 2 Tablespoons of peanut butter. I also recommend adding ice if you wanted it to be colder. I dident but it turned out great! Thanks!

  • OmG… I am struggling learning to make smoothie that taste really good or at least om. And this recipe is just simply awesome…. Thank you so much….

  • I do a a cup of almond milk a tablespoon of cacao nibs that I have crushed a table spoon of either almond butter or for a law cal option pb2 then a hand full of spinach a table spoon of pysillum husk and a table spoon of chia seeds and a frozen banana and a scoop of grass fed gelatin powder id it needs to be a little sweeter I so a couple drops of stevia drops: ) full of easy to digest healthy ingrediants really good for any one if they have suffered from an eating disorder or someone who is just trying to heal or take care of their body.

  • I’ve never been a breakfast eater because food doesn’t sound good in the morning to me. HOWEVER, I discovered the wonderful world of breakfast smoothies using: 1 cup no-fat milk, 2 bananas, 1/2 scoop of protein powder, 1 tsp. choc. malt Ovaltine. Yum! Delicious & nutritional.

  • I love home made smoothies but don’t make them very often because I love ones with berries and they aren’t cheap.  I should try this one because I buy bananas a lot and I use cocoa too.  This is also a good recipe if you like chocolate bananas, which I do.

  • more like a milkshake issn it? in my view a chocolate banana smoothie is bananas and cacao or chocolate whatever but nothing but that. i just use 13 bananas and three four big spoones cacao and a little bit water

  • YUMMMMy. Thanks for sharing Domestic geek (me too lol). I have some chocolate protein and these recipes have definitely inspired me. Trying the coffee and banana but with cappuccino powder instead of mocha. These recipes are definitely, for chocolate lovers and a replacement for that chocolate crave we women often get.

  • no frozen banana jokes here. Melissa, thank you, this smoothie and rediscovering “The Living Years” on youtube have made my morning.

  • Do you use ground chia/hemp seeds when you put into blender, or do you just use the whole seeds and let the Blendtec blender grind them? I generally use ground flax seeds before I add to the mixture, but I’m not sure about chia/hemp seeds. I’ve been tossing them in whole and my blender doesn’t do a great job and the texture of the final smoothie has bits of whole seeds which makes it a little gritty. Not sure if a better blender will take care of that or not. But I ordered my Blendtec and should be here in a week since my blender is on its last leg!

  • Melissa! I love all your videos and am enjoying the smoothie ones too. Thank you to you, and your husband for all the time and energy you put into them. One suggestion: Get some glass straws! (Assuming you don’t have any yet.) Glass straws are awesome for so many reasons.

  • I made this morning, but added powdered peanut butter and a packet of stevia instead of the maple syrup…I will let you know how it is:)

  • Hello Melissa! I wanted to ask u sth about vit D drops, as i myself am vit D deficient(extremely), do u use drops that are meant for babies, because i can’t find drops for adults here. If so r they better then taking pills? thankyou!

  • Try this healthy and super yummy recipe: 1 cup almond milk, 1 tbsp cacao powder, 1 frozen banana, 2 dates, 1 tbsp almond/peanut butter, 1 tbsp each of flax, chia and hemp seeds, 1 tsp vanilla extract add ice if you want.:)

  • Why almond milk?? I assume it’s not a taste thing but a health thing, we can sub with actual milk, that will also taste better, right? Thanks for recipes!

Like most I’m not vegan, I kill/eat both plants and animals, and I don’t have almond milk.

  • I just tried Sun Warrior protein powder. I found single serving packets at this vegan store next to the vegan restaurant. I tried the vanilla.

  • The first and fifth are calling my name my boyfriend would love the fourth one, though, Terrys Chocolate Orange is his favourite chocolate.

  • Why add sugar? Chocolate and ice cream have sugar. Plus Bananas are naturally sweet.
Though I think this was milk shake(coz of the milk quantity), banana chocolate flavour.

  • Thank you for sharing your amazing recipes, my 3 year old and I love your smoothies! I also need help, my daughter is a very picky eater and cries for a happy meal sometimes, do you have any recipes that would trick her to eating a healthier meal? Thank you!

  • this is a destructive recipe…use cocoa powder almond silk unsweetened bananas vanilla and stevia…all good for you….avoid sugar, any animal milk, chocolate products..
