  • Hey Cassey, I just completed the first day of the Beginners Calendar! I cannot wait to see how much I improve throughout this month. I have to say, right now I need to work on my breathing. Thank you.
    Edit: It is Day 27 of the Beginners Calendar and I have just redone this video. Wow, it is still difficult to do some of the moves in this video. The difficulty is now more of pushing yourself instead of needing to pause the video to take a break. I am now able to hold my legs much straighter throughout a movement and my core strength is much stronger. I am hoping to continue doing Cassey’s pilates videos but I want to revisit this video once in a while to remind myself of the correct breathing and posture in these movements.

  • i just finished this 21 day challenge. I am really out of shape (& 60 years old!) and this challenge kicked my butt! I am ready to continue my fitness journey and Boho Beautiful will be my go to!

  • I started planning this video a while ago, and I was very aware of how sensitive this topic was going to be. We needed to find women who were comfortable discussing their weight on camera and we needed to produce this video in the most compassionate way. I didn’t want anyone to run off set crying or upset. I wanted to have an open discussion with real feelings about some real taboo topics.

    I’m currently reading the comments on here and it seems that the feelings on this video are split 50/50. Some people are moved to tears because they’re incredibly touched…and then others are very upset, saying it was a terrible, pointless video meant to make women feel bad about themselves.

    So, what was the point? To show that labels and numbers have as much power as we want to give them. They can make us feel bad. They can make us feel good. Or they can just be data points to guide our next steps. But your health, which includes both your mental health, your physical health as well as your happiness is something that cannot be accurately assessed by any number. A number does it’s best to help medical professionals categorize your health as a starting point, but it’s not the entire story. Health really does look different on everyone.

    This content is meant to make you think. Yeah, it’s uncomfortable, but when did we ever become smarter, better humans by being comfortable all the time? We grow the most when we’re challenged – and I’m talking emotionally challenged too. If this video made you feel a certain way, take a moment to reflect and ask yourself why you feel that way. Can you dig deep and dissect this feeling further? Some of you may find that you need improvement in the area of not letting numbers control your happiness. And others of you may just find that you don’t want a relationship with numbers at all, and that my content didn’t help you achieve that. Both are okay to feel. What’s not okay is calling people derogatory names and spreading hatred. I will never allow that here on my channel.

    Just so you know, each woman was mentally prepped for the shoot and knew that we’d be discussing weight and other sensitive body image topics. Our producer interviewed each woman who was casted one by one and in person, and made sure they were comfortable with the topics before committing to the shoot. The entire Blogifam and the crew was very careful in making sure the women felt good during the entire process, from casting to shoot day to video release. The mental health of each of the women was my first priority.

  • I had four wisdom teeth removed this week! I’ve been taking it easy but didn’t want to lose all my gains in my fitness. This workout was great for gentle movement and muscle awareness to keep me on track.

  • How did Bynay, knowing she was only 121lbs ever think she’d be the same as Irene! This experiment was so messed up and unnecessary, I hope the women’s self esteem wasn’t affected to badly:(

  • The yoga instructors body fat percentage was higher because she had bigger boobs. If you have bigger boobs it can add to your body fat percentage. The rest of her body was leaner and more toned than the other girl. This is why at the end of the day all of these metrics alone aren’t a true reflection of overall “health”

  • Beth I have been doing pilates now for 3 years and still keep being confused by when I should be breathing in and when I should be breathing out. Is it possible for you to do a 5 minute video for all of us aspis out there plus all pilate beginners where you just do 2 or 3 reps of each sort of exercise and telling us each time when to breath? I watch one which says you breath out to contract the transvers abdomenous or any time you have effort. Then I hear ‘breath in, breath out…’ and it’s the opposite. If there is already a good one in your library then a link will be great.

    The other thing is that your brilliant full body workout in 13 minutes has some really great new (to me) material but your instructions are coming in a bit late so by the time you say it, you are already in the right position for the next exercise whilst I have only just realised where I’m supposed to be. I can keep up IF I get the instruction early enough. I keep having to run it back which is a little frustrating. I LOVE LOVE LOVE THEM so not complaining, just wondered if next video you could cue it toward the end of previous exercise otherwise I have to watch my phone through the whole routine and it takes something away from it.

  • This is a perfect beginners class. I have tried other beginner classes and they were SO hard. This was challenging but more about focusing on positioning, breathing, and movement. Loved it

  • I love her videos and rotate through them a couple of days a week. Question: In this video she did not take even a tiny break in between exercises (for example, the whole inner thighs series consisted of a few exercises. Is it possible you did not put your legs down, not even once?? How bad is it to take a 10-second break?

  • Notice how weight and BMI don’t actually represent their body types well in the least. Even body fat percentage. Numbers don’t seem to represent bodies well. Why does everyone care about the numbers?

  • Hey I’m a complete beginner and I’m just wondering if it’s normal for me to not be able to raise my legs up to the ceiling 90 degrees like that? I mean, I can lift them up to about 70 degrees maybe but not 90. Will that improve eventually?

    I can see a little bit difference on thighs, but all dimensions are same as before

    I’m happy bc as you can see, there’s some of good results. I can see that i’m more muscular (especially legs) and i lost a bit of my weight, too

    3 week:
    I messed up. During this week i wasn’t eating healthy and all. So that’s why i gained weight and probably that’s why the results are not that spectacular. But it’s okey. I’m happy with these results and i’m going to do another challange

  • If you hadn’t worked out in years this is impossible lol I really suggest mastering one excercise at a time and workout on stretching the tight hamstrings

  • am i the only one who can’t really suck in my stomach when i inhale? i can tense the muscles but i can’t actually suck it inward i’ve been trying but it’s extremely difficult and uncomfortable. i can suck in when i exhale, but i don’t quit get how i’m supposed to just suck it in and then in some more it has to come back out at some point,, am i just confused lol

  • I LOVE this series! Have done the challenge a couple of times now. Added a 1KG ankle weight on the working leg for an extra challenge as I got stronger.

  • I often wonder what I would be classified as. I am a ectomorph 5’8 115 lbs. Once I spoke to a nutritionist and found out I am too thin and it’s not safe to be at the weight that I am. However, I am a size 4 dress. That’s definitely not the thinnest.

  • Found this class so helpful. I’ve used Pilates in the past but it got lost somewhere! With lower back stenosis, my consultant has advised that I find it again. I’ve done it 3 times now over the last week and a half and I’m already noticing slight changes with my flexibility, and my knee and back pain is better on days when I’ve done this! This was my first introduction to pilates and I’m really enjoying myself, and I plan on working my way up to your harder classes eventually. Thank you for this amazing video, you’ve really opened my mind to how good pilates can be!

  • Also re breathing, at 15.47 you say breath in to pivot back but I want to breath out to stabilise the move. Re the butterfly spine extension I get much more lift with a breath out. Please help me Beth. I know you know but I just don’t get it.

  • That was a great class. I am in my 60’s, so it was hard to do some of the moves, but most of the moves were very helpful and I really liked the pace and explanations.

  • I always wonder How does she just stay on her side?? I’m rolling around in my livingroom like a rolling pin every time I have to stay on my side and I am at the end of the calendar (I’m doing this one again because I was very sore this morning). Some knows? It happens literally every time!

  • I started this, and did the intro three times over a few days. I found it really helped to watch it without trying it the first time, then I had a much better visual in my head of what she was talking about. I will make it through the series.

  • Thanks for this first time doing Pilates. If I could make a suggestionif the instructor had light coloured clothing on I would have been able to see the breathing and flat back better. I agree doing the core steps properly breath and movement stops bad posturing from the beginning. R

  • I just finished the 21 day challenge and I can physically see the changes in my body. My abs are more defined, thighs are more toned and smaller, and I have so much arm strength!   • Really hope you made sure you didn’t pick any women that had previous health/eating/nervous disorders because something like this can give someone a huge push back into that unhealthy lifestyle. I hope this experiment didn’t affect them negatively.

  • Day 1 completing this video: Stopped multiple times throughout the entire video and could barely make it through the leg pulses..
    Day 9 redoing this video: only stopped a few times during the leg pulses but made it through everything else!!
    9 days and I already feel much stronger! Keep going guys!!

  • when i do the mermaid stretch i feel a horrid puuling in my lower back and that hurts. this is then i do the first part of the mermaid stretch not the second part. what am i doing wrong?

  • I have always had a good relationship with food and working out but lately i have been losing track. I have been binge eating without knowing why, working out became something boring and i didn’t enjoy working out anymore. So i decided to do this challenge and i have been waking up 1 hour earlier to do this in the morning and i LOVE it. It took me 2 weeks and now i am addicted to it. It also toned up my body so i feel so confident and happy about myself. I don’t binge eat anymore. I don’t know if it has something to do with it but i think that this workout made me happier so i don’t seek comfort in food anymore. I can’t thank you enought for this. This is life changing for me!

  • today is my last day of beginners’s calendar…..did this video of the last day………… in the starting i couldn’t do leg lifts and tiny circles together… i had to break in between.. but now i can do the full video in one go.. really can see the difference…thnx cassey for making me stronger and happier……. love from India

  • I have neck, upper back and lower back prob. My chiropractor told me that I need to slowly strengthen my muscle. Your video helped me though today is the 2nd only, but i really enjoyed it. It’s easy yet intense for me! Big thumbs up!!

  • I have done Pilates for years. I am a senior or as the government calls us “elderly”. I was off yoga and pilates quite a bit last year due to rotator cuff surgery. I thought oh well I can do beginner no problem. I have to say I struggled!! Worried I’m really out of shape!!

  • My metabolic rate must be higher than I thought, because I eat more junk food than most of these people and haven’t followed a healthy life style until recently and still have a similar or trimmer figure than the second shortest girl. However, I walk every day and do pull ups every day (no abs)

  • I can see the idea behind this video, but presenting women to the idea that there is something wrong with their bodies wasn’t it. Some of those women could’ve had some serious insecurities and body image issues, and to call them ‘acceptable’ ‘overweight’ or ‘obese’ wasn’t the move.

  • I’m starting it over again today after losing it last week…so exhausting but don’t give up! She’s such a ball of positivity…it helps me keep up with all the pain! Pretty excited about the final results!

  • I’ve seen a lot of comments about this, so I wanna clarify.

    BMI isn’t 100% accurate, obviously. It can’t be used for, say, bodybuilders who are primarily muscle and whatnot. It’s more used as a general guideline for the average human being.
