  • Uncomfortable doesn’t describe it at all! It is so painful. I was crying in pain every single time they did it. By the time the checked me for the 6th time with still being only 1cm for 2 days, I declined being checked because I was so sore. I was sent home yesterday bc I’m not progressing and I am STILl sore from all those checks. Just the checks alone put me off of pregnancy for the rest of my life.

  • Most of the things that improve neurogenesis are activities and things we did pre Bronze Age. It makes complete sense that eating harder foods promotes new neurones, plants food are hard. I also think their could be an impact between eating plants and meat. Eating plants is what we have been doing predominantly for millions of years. Intermittent fasting is also what we did throughout most of our timeline and not relying on artificial heating ( I believe we have to experience coldness). This knowledge is never given out by doctors, which is a huge shame as it would cure most of the western diseases.

  • The body can deliver miracles; not just children, but actual miracles. We’ve no idea how ironically solid, fragile, familiar and mysterious our bodies are. And yes, of course we can generate new brain cells. The body is self-healing (but, please, no more animal tests on mice to discover facts about our bodies).

It is only an opinion because there is not (yet) evidence, and it is also very difficult to prove. But I consider it is an “educated guess”; so, it could be called a hypothesis: Here memory is taken into account, and yes, memory is very important. But I think that deep thinking should still be stronger in inducing neurone genesis. Because it is not only data storing (sometimes complex and interconnected), but it goes about complex neuronal networks, that also connect with others at the same depth. Deep thinking should be the strongest neurone “sucker”, because you need more and more while you keep organising new networks! And if also you learn difficult issues, you feel happy that you can understand! Another plus. If you keep adding, you can think on science teaching; not only you “rebuild” and “confirm your existent neural circuits and networks while you teach those deep issues, but also you get happy to see that others can understand them! Double happiness!! More and well organised neurones!!! Thank you for this video! I will definitely include these concepts in my teachings!

  • Thank you for this. The pelvic exams are always so painful for me before I hit 6 cm. I’m usually tense and it’s just hurts so bad. The more I dilate the less I feel anything when they check me. I’ll have to seriously relax and ask them to wait until I’m prepared and not tense. I’m due in 5 weeks with my 7th and it’s never gets easier.

  • What’s the reason a soft diet will decrease neurogenesis? The simply biological effect? The fact that chewing harder is like exercising? What about fasting? What is the time frame where it becomes beneficial? Is there a limit where it becomes counter-productive (you know, being malnutritioned)? Is it sugars or sugar levels of blood? Does that show up in meal spacing?

  • With my first pregnancy I had no idea what a vaginal exam would be like and when my doctor shoved her fingers inside me I jumped from the pain she didn’t even warn me… then went on to saying “if you can’t handle this you won’t be able to handle birth.” Then the nurse behind her agreed and went on to say “it’s about 100 times worse than this.”

  • If only the nurses weren’t sooo heartless and wouldn’t be rude.. They just get inside u.. First time it ever happened i yelled with shock and pain and since nurses and drs shifts kept changing.. I remember a nurse shoving her fingers in before getting me. Mentally prepared.. (i was already bleeding and had a rip because of something they did for induction) she was like.. Why are u acting like a kid.. Is it ur first baby or something.. And im. Like. Yess… It was worsttt part of whole pregnancy and delivery altogether. I was probably checked 3 to 4 times..

My question is, is it normal to happen like that having a slight bleeding for 2 days?And a thick mucus plug comes out,after 2days.But am not yet into labor until now. I am now 39 weeks and 7 days.

How often do we need those cervix exams in the last 2 weeks of pregnancy and why can’t the nurses or whoever will check down there just wait till our own bodies deliver the baby? I mean how did woman did in the past where maybe they had to give birth in the wild? I don’t see it very necessary to be checking the cervix to make sure is dilated, efface etc…

  • I am 62 and my motivation was peace. So after being blessed with a good job, I resigned the position at the age of 37 and shifted to the Himalayas to live in an ashram. I do little, keep to myself, do the “know thyself bit,” and have no ambition whatsoever. I am not sure what it all means.

  • As a newer labor nurse who didn’t get a lot of practice doing cervical checks during orientation-this was very helpful for me too!!! I ALWAYS ask permission and then tell my patients to tell me when they’re ready for me to check them.

  • I am unfortunately the silent treatment user, mostly because when I’m mad I know whatever will come out of my mouth will be worse. I only do it when someone upsets me and I’ll drag it on for at least a half hour, I’m not one to drag it on for three days.

  • I use the “but you promised” thing a lot.

    (This turned into a rant, sorry about that, but YouTube is the only place I can get this out) For example when my mom sent me to a psychiatry (because of my depression) without my consent, she pinky promised to let me go home after the weekend if I didn’t like it. I asked her many times and she continued to promise me this exact thing. I got there on Friday and the people working there degraded me, along with the other patients being assholes. Also, the shower was a pipe in the wall, you couldn’t change the temperature or pressure on and my skin is horrible sensitive, so I got black bruses and refused to use it. Now this last one sounds privileged, but I had an online friend and we weren’t allowed to use electronics, so I technically lost her for probably ever. Just like how I couldn’t read, write or listen to music anymore. Three out of the four hobbies that I’m able to do. The other is drawing, as I’m too embarressed to cosplay around strangers. And I get the worst headache if I don’t have music or something on in the background that I don’t mind listening to. On Wednesday my mom finally allowed me to go home, after calling her every day, crying and after the weekend I started saying that she promised. I really just want help, but from someone I feel comfortable talking to, or who at least tollarates my presence. Only one, now retired, therapist did that. I really want her back, as she was the one who diagnosed and suspected many of my mental illnesses. I have problems finding someone who doesn’t think of me differently, just because of my age, gender identity, or sexuality. Even in 2019 this was very difficult, as I’m now at the last therapist in my area and I hate her guts.

    Also, I stopped cutting myself before that psychiatry and started again as soon as I got out. Everything was worse than before after that event. It’s been three years, but now I just to it for pleasure. I found other ways to deal with my numbness and emotions.

  • Thank you for sharing your knowledge, expertise, and compassion talking about how hard vaginal exams can be for the average woman. I can imagine some doctors or nurses rolling their eyes if I ask or put on my birth plan that I want them to ask permission and then wait until I’m ready before touching or checking me (I have no history of sexual assault) but just as a curtesy, understanding how rough and violating it can feel to any woman, plus, helping women to understand what you’re sticking your fingers up their for in the first place would make so many women feel so much better about this procedure. So thank you.

As a 270 pound nurse, my mind always plays tricks on me because I know the why’s and how’s of weight loss, yet I feel like i punish myself by not applying the things I know to lose weight. A lot of times I feel like a phony. The crazy thing is I love physical activity. I feel like I have an inner athletic dying to break through the fat!

  • i actually use reasons to manipulate people to get what i want/need

    i.e i want a new phone
    say:mom/dad i need a new phone this one keeps lagging (or crashing)
    or say mom/dad i need a new phone my phone broke because (a valid reason)

    p.s the second one might not have a guaranteed chance to work and these might not even work if your parents don’t have the money to buy what you want/need

    for success however,say:
    mom look at this phone it has a lot of storage space,long battery life,the apps don’t crash,ect
    (use positive things that the thing you want has that will “increase your chances”)

    i would call the first half manipulation but call the second one persuasion

  • I fall for most of these but I’m kinda stubborn and if you whine about it and act like a child for not getting what you want (unless you are a child) I will personally discipline you like a parent and ignore you like “oh you wanna play like that ok bring on” I find it frustrating when adults whine about something when they know from right to wrong and they aren’t children anymore:/

  • Success, however you the individual defines it which doesn’t always need to be defined by a paycheck, should free your brain up enough to the point that you should be able to accomplish something special with it if you have a belief system that is acceptable according to your higher power. The frontal lobe of the brain, which allows us to think and reason, that in itself is what separates humans from the rest of the animal kingdom. Learning that we have special control over our own lives is truly an amazing appreciation for what we are capable of accomplishing. America was the beneficiary of all that independence during our eariler existence, living in an overcrowded situation like we do in today’s society has eliminated the mental stimulation that the brain and mind requires to run at it’s optimum, when you always have others in your mental space, it has a tendency to reverse the mental process, we see mental and physical disease, along with a much shorter life span.

  • I want to do this. I believe my recent bout with vertigo would dissipate. I think my VERTIGO is attached to old memories, that wanna dump and be done with. That and fear of swimming…. I’ve had vertigo for a month now. A true attack on my well being. Even though he stated, no one in the audience will benefit from this, I could feel entire left side of my head, trying to go for it anyway.

  • I don’t think you’d be able to get a 4 pounder through a hair elastic unless it’s a super wide one lol. But I get it. My son was 5.14 pounds at birth and I remember looking at him at 7+ pounds thinking “holy hell, how do they come out of the vagina?”… Even my 3 pound 32 weeker would’ve been an ouch if she came out naturally. Now that I’m getting close to 36w with a 4.5ish pound baby, the thought of her making her way out scares me. I TRULY don’t know how women can push out 8-11 pounders (I knew someone who pushed out an almost 11 pound infant). The female body is pretty damn fascinating. Don’t get me started on the pelvis. I’ve had both vaginal and surgical deliveries. I seriously think vaginal birth is WAY harder than a csection (obviously). A baby just stretched your pelvis, cervix and vagina out…

  • The problem with this video is the definition of manipulation. Author consider manipulation when one is pushed to act against ethics. BUT why ethics is supreme goal? Isn’t ethics manipulation (social comparison) by society?
    I think the better definition of manipulation is tactic to push the other person act irrational (not optimal) for oneself given that the other person understands that this decision is not optimal. From that point I do not consider monetary reward and reason as manipulations as they both tend to shift the optimal decision (first by skewing reward the other by skewing the information).

    During my recovery it was though I was learning to be myself again as I was reinventing myself. Part of this had to do with the fact that I did not remember what was or was not appropriate behavior for me.
    There must have been neurogenesis as well as a form of neurological pruning going on at the same time.
    My brain was rewiring itself, creating new pathways, short-term memory building on top of long term memory. Associative factors linking old memories to new memories.
    I would have to say the experience was a gift as a whole. There’s a wonderful thing and of course a new fertility in forgetting experiences that were obstacles.

Sometimes the person your interacting with is a piece of shift and their are the worst kind of person but you need to deal with them, or you need something from them to better your life… and to be able to persuade or get them on your side, is a gift…

  • I’m only 25wks and today I signed a pelvic exam waiver. I’m kinda confused as to why they want to do this exam sooo early. I have low lining placenta, not yet placenta peervia, but can’t they just get give me an ultra sound to do whatever they need to do?

  • I have a question! Instead of using their fingers to check for cervix dilation, why couldn’t a nurse use a speculum to open the vagina and just see how open the cervix is?

  • Silence is NOT manipulative. Please correct this. Silence is how some people deal with manipulative people because anything you say will be twisted.

  • As one of those patients who hate getting vaginal exams, i can honestly say that if a nurse comes in and ACTUALLY TELLS ME THEIR NAME and tells me what theyre going to do and why theyre doing it im a lot more comfortable than someone who runs in and checks me tells me how many cm and then runs back out and this happens often. just tell your patients your name. they at least want to know WHO is sticking their fingers up there and i believe thats the first thing they teach you in nursing class.

  • I had a natural birth at home and my midwife didnt do any vaginal checks the entire labor, she looked at my butt �� she said when you are dilating the butt crack begins to turn purple like a line going up, so the more you see it the more dilated you are… do you know anything about that? I hope I explained right ��

  • Preach! So much mental training you have to do in order to make it to where your body craves the wellness. My journey has finally brought me to where I constantly think about my goals and actions. A bad day happens, not as often anymore, but being 400 lbs is somewhere I never wanna be again.
