  • As someone with chronic illness as well I found Heal on Netflix really powerful! It’s definitely a little bit sensationalized with the editing but I found the underlying messages really made sense to me and have helped guide me in creating a bit of a more well-rounded healthy lifestyle to manage my illnesses.

  • You do realise that it’s capitalist neoliberalism that tells us we need to strive for our ‘best self’ constantlyand sells us the lie that we need to buy things constantly (clothes, beauty products, health products) to attain that. It also tells us we need to work constantly, so much so that we need to take time for regimented ‘self care’which often involves so many steps that it doesn’t feel like care at all! I used to love YouTube and Pinterest, but now I can see that they are simply tools where capitalism replicates itself. Like Pinterest posts telling me how to improve myself, how to be more beautiful, which clothes to buy, and YouTubers doing the same. It’s ok if, say, Ayuverda makes you feel good about yourself, but I wish you’d disclose that is has no scientific foundation whatsoever.   • I want a green tea that improves my overall health but that doesn’t affect my weight because I’m already super skinny! Do you know of any teas that just help you calm yourself and get you relaxed without affecting your weight?

  • Amy please be careful with taking supplements, you mix a lot of different substances and there’s 100% possibility they will react with each other. You should do it only under medical supervision and after taking blood tests for deficiency. People are reckless with supplements because they’re not “medicine” but they’re still active substances that influence your body. ��

  • My go to’s are also oregano oil and EmergenC packets. I use 5-6 drops of oregano oil as a tea with honey and lemon. Same with your ginger/turmeric shot! I usually don’t find them that spicy but when I do, I add it to hot lemon and just have it as a tea. It’s super important to stay super hydrated when you’re getting sick/have a cold, so I feel like I’m doing my body more good with the teas.

    Maybe you could also do a video with tips on things to do and/or not to do before going to bed, to get a better night’s sleep? I often have issues falling asleep (fx. because my phone/alarm clock distracts me) and also with waking up a few times every night.   • Hello! I hope everyone is doing well today! Just thought I’d put a small disclaimer here!! I am not a licensed physician and any of these practices are things that are helpful in my personal life to feel better and add value to my life. I do believe that practices of Eastern Medicine can be helpful and are very real to me.
    I would define my beliefs as being a spiritual person which you will find at the end of this video are mindfulness tips to help myself stay positive.
    While “self-care” has often become a marketing scheme, which is something to be aware of, I don’t think that taking care of ourselves is a ploy and is a very real part of staying happy for myself, lessening depression/anxiety, fighting a chronic illness and I constantly want to grow as an individual and I think these are some things that help me!

  • Please be careful taking so many supplements and herbal remedies at once even if it’s all naturally derived and good for you in moderation, some natural compounds can interact in unexpected ways (especially if you also take any medications) and cause health problems that are difficult to diagnose and treat because doctors can’t easily tell which chemicals and how much of them you’ve consumed. Ginseng for example can cause edema -there are a few different diuretics in this routine and that’s something you should be wary of overdoing. If you want to take all these different things, maybe try spacing them out over a few days!

  • I think the best probiotics are Culturelle (you can get at any drug store)go-to for many ladies who I know deal with yeast infections!

  • When you’re sick you actually shouldn’t work out. It moves your body’s resources away from your immune system and fighting the illness to activating the systems associated with working out, so it’s counter intuitive. I remember learning this in an exercise physiology class and it’s one of the main things from that class that stuck with me!

  • taking so much suppliments all at once actually might be the cause of acne. you need to firstly test your blood to know what vitamins are you lacking and then take the needed ones, because for example too much of one vitamin might cause breakouts because your body doesnt need that vitamin that much

  • Hi Amy! I just wanted to let you know that it’s actually a myth that you can “sweat out toxins.” There is a very miniscule amount of heavy metals and BPA that comes out in sweat. Sweat is 99% water and most of the toxins removed from our bodies are done by our liver and kidneys! Sweat just helps regulate internal body temperature. 6:40

  • You should look into how much supplements actually help! There’s an Adam Ruins Everything video on it I believe. Supplements and vitamins don’t actually do much for your body, just eating well is enough

  • For your celery juice it’s better to drink it when it’s freshly made, because I think after 15 min the goodness and vitamines fade.

  • AMY the easiest way to peel ginger is just with a spoon not a knife!! Just scrape across is and only the skin comes of but you are not wasting any of the actual ginger:)

  • No exercise or diet will make you live longer. Your length of life is based on your genes. We all have an inherited predisposition to certain illnesses that will kill us despite exercise or diet. Maybe cancer, heart attack, whatever. A real bad life style may bring this on this illness earlier but you would really have to go OTT for this to happen. Plenty of fit athletes have died young and plenty of fat people have lived into their late eighties. Finally: Winston Churchill drank a bottle of brandy a day plus wine. He was extremely overweight, smoked cigars and took no exercise. He died aged 90
