  • I bought Vital Straps instead. They only cost 40 bucks but are very solid. I use TRX straps at gym at work and they’re nice but they’re way to expensive, and you can’t do ring dips with TRX but you can with Vital Straps. 

  • I have 1 at home bought it with the help of my gym instructor and all I can say the best thing that ever happen in the world of body Wok outs. First time I saw it the thing that pops in my mind: “ITS JUST A ROPE WITH A RING” but once I tried the work man it was great! Who ever invented this is a real GENIUS. Thanks TRX!!!!!

  • I always like to see an overhead anchor rather than using the door I find you get more range of motion and greater variety of exercises

  • do you want to get in shape or do you want to lift heavy weights? just getting a bench and dumbbells is not enough to get in shape, you need cadio with weight training

  • feet straight while doing squats otherwise your Lateral Gastrocnemius gets more overworked then your medial Gastroc witch will lead to a muscle imbalance. Keeping feet straight will ensure both muscles are getting enough attention otherwise your calves are cheating on a transverse plane witch will lead to synergistic dominance

  • I’m just wondering if this is actually worth it. I want to get in shape, and was thinking about just buying a bench press for cheap. My dads trying to convince me to get this instead, seems he wants it more than me but just wants me to buy it. I work overtime, so don’t have much time to dedicate myself to working out. I just want something for a quick workout every now and then, so tell me, dumbells+bench press, or TRX. Btw, I want to BULK.

  • I’ve used trx before… and tbh gymnastic rings is superior in many ways..
    but ofcourse trx will also give a major2222 benefit if u consistently use it and progress with it.

    Due to not being able to get into the gym at thr moment, I am missing the rowing machine. Are there any TRX exercises that may help imitate this?

  • Hi Adam, You are completely right about this. TRX ( or other suspension straps) will build muscle like any other resistance method. They work for me as well as my training partner. Thanks for a very informative video. By the way, where are you located?

  • I’ve been taking a TRX class at my local rec center once a week forth easy two months. I haven’t changed anything else in my life like my diet or other exercise. Actually, the last month especially I’ve been eating worse because I have been stressed. I’ve gone down one size which is fantastic since I only do TRX once a week! I was an XXL and now I’m an XL.

    The TRX workout is challenging but it is also do-able for all levels. I really enjoy it because I find it isn’t hard on my joints like bootcamp classes are. After this I’m sore the next day but I don’t feel debilitated like I feel with the bootcamp. I definitely recommend everyone try the TRX because it really is a great way to get a versatile workout without overdoing it and injuring yourself. Try it:)

  • So I have to put an anchor on my ceiling to use this? Millions of over the door pull up bars have been sold and I’m still skeptical about them not breaking the door frame.

  • Overpriced…
    There’s a very similar product called “Serius Suspension Straps” and costs about $45-55 depending on where you buy them online. I can’t find any retailer stores that sell them but you can buy them in Amazon. The only thing the I like about TRX are the not the bands but the exercises provided on their website. Shame that they cost $15 a pop.

  • Fantastic video sir! No ego, clear advice that is obviously informed through experience. I would add that due to functional movement you do not over train or develop a muscle disproportionately to other groups. I have been using TRX for over 5 years, with the combination of swimming, it is a supreme fitness training system!

  • I’ve been weight training for around 2 years before I decided to take my game to next level and enlist the support of a personal trainer. When he incorporated the TRX into some sessions, I was skeptical. Let me JUST say that I’ve never sweat bullets like I do when I’m on this thing. I’ve also never seen my arms pump up and get as vascular as when I’m doing some TRX exercise. Don’t let the design simplicity or looks deceive. TRX is pretty amazing.

  • 2 boat tie down straps from home depot, 2 solid handles off amazon and you have a pretty close facimile of the TRX for under $30. Stuff is way overpriced

  • Tie cement blocks between anchor and handles. optional pulley at block with rope through pulley & between handles. Pull handles to lift blocks. Vary rope lengths & height of anchor. Acts like Total gym or TRX suspension trainer. Cinder blocks <$2/block & 38 pounds each.

  • Surely you could do most of the stabilisation exercises on a swiss ball or a medicine ball or even a bosu ball and probably be harder? And at a fraction of the price.

    Not hating just sceptical.

  • What he left out at the beginning of his “Why I invented TRX” sales pitch is “to make money from chumps with an waaaay overpriced set of rings and straps.” Not TRX but WOR (way overpriced rings). That’s all it is. I wanted to see TRX was all about and this video came up first, with the usual “tough guy” voice and lots of “EXCITEMENT!!” LOL.  Cargo straps at Home Depot and a set of 2 heavy duty handles from Bodylastics, a Bodylastics Door Anchor  and you’ll have the same thing for much less than a hundred dollars and enough left for a great meal at a restaurant. And you’ll be able to use it almost anywhere, inside or out. Watch all the TRX videos here on YouTube and you’ll have more than enough exercises demonstrated to keep you busy 24/7.

  • Many people don’t trust the TRX. They obviously do not know basic physics. Lifting dumbbells and lifting your own body are the same.

  • A pair of gymnastic rings cost $60…TRX…$200 or more???  Can anybody truly tell me the difference between them?  Name me one exercise you can do on TRX that you can’t do with gymnastic rings.  TRX is a HUGE WASTE OF MONEY…they are ripping you off.  Don’t just believe everything they say.  Do your homework!!!  The inventor is claiming “revolutionary”…yeah right!  He can sell that crap to people who never exercised before.  What is so “revolutionary” about TRX, Mr. Hetrick???  Didn’t you hear about sport called “gymnastics” and the little round wooden rings, that they use to do the same thing they would with TRX.

  • Been taking classes; my wife signed me up to get me out of the house. She also takes classes to supplement her running. A great new, novel way to get in a workout. Exercises your muscles differently than free-weights which my body is too used to. You need to change it up with different ways of training. I feel the diff…people at work say I look more fit and think I know martial arts etc. Whatever…Im just doing TRX and kettlebell exercises and not eating more than 400 calories in one sitting…thats all!

  • I see what you’re saying, yet I think the real challenge is finding an “anchor spot” that supports my body weight (260+ lbs.) I see them using the door threshold, but is that feasible if you need the straps hanging from above the head vs. on the wall to do the given workout correctly? Plus that door, for me, better be a SOLID door. You know what I mean?

  • Great video mate thanks for the inspiration. Out of curiosity which TRX do you use whilst you’re travelling? Or which would you now buy if you were to get a newer one? I travel a lot with work and want to use a TRX to workout on the move. I want to just throw it in the backpack. I heard the foam on the TRX Home wears away really quickly. But the TRX Pro although the handle is running the whole thing is quite heavy. They have the new Tactical which seems to be made for soldiers on the move but apparently, the lack of staps on the handle means the foot is not stable (too much gap) for leg exercises. As a pro user would be really helpful to know what your opinion is? By the way, I’m a beginner to TRX only used them with a PT.

  • Yea, I did it for myself and got a solid working tool for under 10$, it can be done, this thing is waaaay overpriced, I could sell very similar stuff for like 25$ anytime. But it is very good and efficient workout, i’m doing it every day and it is amazing.

  • make your own took me 10mins, its a kickass way of training, been boxing and weight training for years.. this is core training,and i have never had a workout like it..!!!

  • They do remind me of gymnastic rings, but they seem more practical for the variety of work outs that they allow for. I did my first ever TRX routine yesterday at my gym in Quito, Ecuador. I had never even heard of this before! But it was an amazing workout! Everything in one (even cardio)! I am going to go to the class every week!

  • 1/ Balance/stabilization issues added to movements diminish benefit to prime movers. Every so-called “stabilizer” is just a muscle, which should be worked as such, not to stabilize another muscle. Straight floor pushups will work chest & arms more intensely than TRX. 2/ TRX demos mislead subjects into thinking that a great variety of movements should be done each workout. In fact, experienced, fit users can benefit more by doing one intense press, one pull, and one leg press/squat.

  • I have an almost new TRX that has hardly been used and that is because a few days after I got it I bought a Gflex suspension trainer for $60 and I really enjoy it more than the TRX. I take it every with me and there are quit a few things one can do on it that can’t be done on the TRX. Not hating the TRX (even though I would like to sell mine) just found something that I can do the same work with and more. Enjoy!

  • I set up almost the exact same thing in my home gym a couple of weeks ago from from heavy duty strap. I guess we think alike haha. If you want to be well rounded, suspension training is definitely something you want to throw into your routine.

  • I fell in love with TRX so darn quickly, I used a broken one, next thing I know, I’ve taken two courses and I’m training people. I work at a gymnastics academy, we’ve come up with some cool stuff, it’s like rings with a single anchor point and adjustable length.

  • This is the best gear ever! Easy to use and with such a broad range of exercises it can be used for..I go to a TRX twice a week, and I want to puke each time I am finished:P You can use it to train the whole body, and you can adjust the angel of the body to suit your level of strength.. It is especially good for all the supporting muscles it is hard to get to properly in a “normal” gym (due to muscle isolation)
    Turn on some good music and push yourself an hour with these, I guarantee results

  • Bought one with my BF, just started taking classes to use it, DAMN its good! I recommend taking a class at your gym or hiring a trainer to show you how to use it first, then once you do it’s great. Using my own body weight kicks my pretty fit already ASS!!

  • These things are ridiculously over priced, over£200 for two cam buckles and some straps, I made a cheap version for £5 that does everything this does. Talk about a good marketing strategy

  • I have been doing this for about 3 months now and it is great. I really love it and have found it has really helped my strength and my flexibility. Just did a very hard session this morning!!

  • Why not get a climbers figure eight and some rope?

    If you loop the rope through the fig 8 there is no resistance, like the RIP60. If you wrap the rope onece around the fig 8 there is some resistance, like the TRX and if you wrap it twice, you have a solid two rope work out.
