NEW Motivation Coaching was founded by Alexia Lewis in 2016. After surviving a heart attack in 2007, she become a dietitian to help spread the word about how food choices and activity can influence health. Her expertise is a real-life whole-food, clean-eating, heart-healthy, and non-diet approach to health improvement. She has survived the diet culture after struggling with her weight since her teen years. She currently has found her happy place for maintaining her personal most emotionally and physically and healthy weight.
We only staff health professionals licensed to practice in the State of Florida. Our health coaches have completed accredited educational programs, had hands-on competency-based internships, and/or have passed national registration or certification exams.
Alexia is credentialed as a registered dietitian (RD) through the Commission on Dietetic Registration and licensed (LD/N) through the Florida Department of Health. She earned a Certified Health Coach (CHC) credential from the American Council on Exercise. She holds a Master of Science degree in Nutrition & Dietetics and a Bachelor of Science in Health from the University of North Florida. From her previous career, she earned a Bachelor of Science in Business and Professional Management from Nova Southeastern University.
We also partner with dietetic interns and undergraduates in health-related fields who are working towards becoming health professionals to help them build their skills to attain licensure and certification.
Alexia specializes in coaching people who are ready to ditch the diet mentality and shift focus to health improvement through quality nutrition, enjoyable activity, and finding balance with health and wellness. She promotes a realistic, flexible, small-steps approach that fits into people’s lifestyles no matter how busy they are.
Alexia has worked with a variety of clients in workplace wellness, clinical outpatient settings, and private practice. Satisfied clients include people managing cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes and pre-diabetes, PCOS, anemia, food sensitivities and allergies. Others have wanted to transition to a plant-based eating plan, break free of dieting, tweak their nutrition and activity habits, are concerned about the additives in our foods and organic/sustainable eating, and/or want to stretch their food dollars.
Alexia has taught undergraduate nutrition courses at the University of North Florida including Food Fundamentals, Food Science Laboratory, Introduction to Human Nutrition, Nutrition Education, and Nutrition Counseling and Communication. In addition, Alexia has led healthy eating groups and presented original workshops such as A.S.P.I.R.E. to Plan Healthy Meals, Heart-Healthy Eating Strategies,What’s In My Food? Deciphering Food Labels and Ingredients Lists, and Cooking Tips and Recipe Revisions.
