NEW Motivation Coaching was founded by Alexia Lewis in 2016. She is a registered and licensed dietitian (RD, LD/N) and Certified Health Coach (CHC) with expertise in weight management and a heart-healthy lifestyle. She survived a heart attack in 2007 and become a dietitian to help spread the word about how food choices and activity habits can influence health. She has also struggled with her weight since her teen years and continues to work on maintaining a physically and emotionally healthy weight.
Alexia is credentialed as a registered dietitian through the Commission on Dietetic Registration and licensed through the Florida Department of Health (license ND 6225). Her Health Coach Certification is from the American Council on Exercise. She holds a Master of Science degree in Nutrition & Dietetics and a Bachelor of Science in Health from the University of North Florida. From her previous career, she earned a Bachelor of Science in Business and Professional Management from Nova Southeastern University.
Currently, Alexia is partnering with undergraduates in the Nutrition & Dietetics Program at the University of North Florida.
Alexia has worked with a variety of clients in workplace wellness, clinical outpatient settings, and private practice. Satisfied clients include people with cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, anemia, food sensitivities and allergies, lap-band patients, vegetarians/vegans, as well as healthy people who want to lose or gain weight/muscle, people who are concerned about the additives in our foods and organic/sustainable eating, and people who want to stretch their food dollars.
Alexia has taught undergraduate nutrition courses at the University of North Florida including Food Fundamentals, Food Science Laboratory, Introduction to Human Nutrition, Nutrition Education, and Nutrition Counseling and Communication. In addition, Alexia has led healthy eating and weight loss groups and presented original workshops such as A.S.P.I.R.E. to Plan Healthy Meals, Heart-Healthy Eating Strategies,What’s In My Food? Deciphering Food Labels and Ingredients Lists, and Cooking Tips and Recipe Revisions.
Published continuing education courses for health professionals include Celiac Disease: The Basics and Beyond, Lactose Intolerance: The Basics and Beyond, and she was a co-author for the book 200 Surefire Ways to Eat Well and Feel Better and blogs about food, health,and her journey to wellness at AlexiaLewisRD.com
